Community Involvement In addition to caring for your pet's medical needs, we are committed to participating in and supporting community events. Our interests are varied. We have sent staff as volunteers to the Doney Memorial Clinic for the Homeless, presented seminars on pet care topics, written articles in community newspapers, organized health screenings, marched in parades, celebrated birthdays, done presentations for classroom teachers, hosted job shadows and mentored interns. Come say "Hi" if you see us at your favorite event. Viking Fest Parade 5/19/07

Beaker is one of our favorite patients. She turned 15 today. We were all thrilled to be celebrating the many years of joy she has brought to her family.
Golden Retriever Anterior Uveitis Screening 3/11/07
This is the second year where Dr. Tom Sullivan of the Animal Eye Clinic in Seattle has given up a Sunday to screen CAWC's over 4 year old Goldens for this inherited condition. GRAU is an inflammation of the eye that does not respond to medication, is extrememly painful and can lead to loss of one or both eyes. It is preventable with medication as long as it is detected before it affects the eye. Both times that we have sponsored this event, we have detected GRAU in roughly 25% of the patients screened. The good news is that those dogs will never develop the disease. The bad news is that it seems to be more prevalent in the population than is currently recognized.
